November Update

Today is my last day of home assignment. I will be taking a few vacation days in Pennsylvania before returning to Romania in mid-December.

Home Assignment
As home assignment comes to a close, I thought it would be fun to take a look back at the past 90 days:
  • I've spoken at 36 churches -- in 39 church services, plus 2 children's missions days, and 3 youth events.
  • I've had 3 official district tours (Mid-Atlantic, North Carolina, & Maine), and have also spoken in a handful of churches on the Philadelphia & Kansas City Districts
  • I've spent over 100 hours driving over 6000 miles. (Keep in mind that it takes only about 12 hours to fly the 5000 miles from Romania.)
  • I've eaten at 15 potlucks (dinners, desserts, or finger foods).
  • I've slept in 31 different beds.
  • I have 3 wonderful friends (in different parts of the US) who loaned me their vehicles to use so I didn't have to spend money on car rentals.
  • I've had to keep up on all of my normal responsibilities in Romania, including theological education, literature development, mission finances, and child sponsorship.
  • I've raised over $3,000 for the Tigmandru Church through the sale of dolls the church's women have made.
  • I've raised over $15,000 toward my 2-year budget of $50,000. (This is an estimate; not all donations have been received & processed yet.)
  • I have received 1 new monthly donor (Click here for more information.)

In my deputation message, I highlighted how your giving to the World Evangelism Fund, Alabaster, Nazarene Compassionate Ministries, and my deputation account is making a difference in Romania and other areas. Click below to watch the video of my deputation message from Sunday morning, November 20, at Overland Park Church of the Nazarene. My message begins at 36:25.

Refugee Response
Many people have approached me after deputation services and thanked me for putting real faces and personal stories to the refugee crisis. Several have said that they'd like to help, but don't know how. Click here ways you can become better informed about the refugee crisis (esp. Nazarene Refugee Response), how to pray, and how to give.

Coming Soon...
When I return to Romania, I will have no shortage of work. Many projects have been on hold since I left Romania at the end of August. The priority will be finishing the paperwork to set up the Tigmandru Child Development Center and enrolling children for Nazarene Child Sponsorship. I'll also be grading papers for a theology class that took place earlier this month, moving ahead with our next translation projects, cataloging books we purchased in 2016 for our library, and catching up on 4 months of finances, e-mails, and other administrative tasks.
Please pray for me as I readjust to life in Romania and prioritize these (and other) responsibilities.

2016 Prayer Card
Thank you for your Prayer Support!
Thank you for your prayer support. If you have not received one of my prayer cards and would like one, please email me with your name & address, and I'll get one in the mail to you before I return to Romania.

Thank you for your Financial Support!
I am responsible for raising $25,000 each year, which provides my salary, housing, transportation, and other expenses. Approximately one-third comes from speaking in churches during home assignment, a third comes from my home church, and the remaining third needs to come from donors who make monthly or annual contributions. If you would like to make a year-end tax-deductible donation or setup monthly giving, please click here for more information.

Thank you for all the ways that you partner with me. May you have a truly blessed Advent and Christmas.
