Back from Home Assignment

Dear Ministry Partners,
I have just returned to Romania after a short home assignment in North America. Here's a quick look back at the past couple months and a glimpse forward of what's planned.

Home Assignment Recap
I began my home assignment by speaking in churches in York, Pennsylvania, including my home church.

After a week in PA, my parents and I drove to New Hampshire to visit my brother for a few days.

From there, I took a bus to Boston, to attend my 15-year class reunion at Eastern Nazarene College. As part of the homecoming festivities, we organized a special gathering commemorating 25 years from the first semester of students sent from ENC to Romania, beginning the Romanian Studies Program (which is how I first came to Romania in 2001).

While in Boston, I enjoyed spending time with friends. I also spoke at a church in the Boston area on Sunday morning.

A week after homecoming, I began a deputation tour of my LINKS churches on the Canada Central District, most of which are near Toronto. It was a full week -- speaking in 11 churches in 8 days!

In each deputation service, I shared about how Romanian men and women are being prepared for ministry through European Nazarene College. I enjoyed returning to churches where I had spoken before to share an update with them, as well as meeting my LINKS churches which have been praying for me for the past 2.5 years. Although my schedule was full these past 5 weeks, it was still a more relaxed pace and a welcome break from the busyness from this spring and summer.  It was also nice to spend unhurried time with friends I have not seen in a while. I have returned to Romania feeling more refreshed.

While in Canada, I visited Niagara Falls.

Prayer Requests
As I look at my calendar for the next couple months, I ask you to join me in praying for the following:
  • Our annual district assembly will take place this Saturday (Nov. 10). At district assembly, Joshua Herndon will be appointed to serve as district superintendent. Pray for Josh as he leads the Romania District.
  • Pray for students in the Romania Learning Centre of European Nazarene College. A new course (Church History 1) will start on November 12.
  • During the busyness of the spring and summer, I have kept postponing several necessary repairs. Thankfully, some of my car repairs were tended to while I was in the U.S., but my apartment has others (starting with urgent plumbing problems) that need to be addressed. Pray that these can be resolved quickly and inexpensively.
More Updates:
Check out RomaniaNazarene.blogspot.com for more ministry updates, including several short videos that have been posted in the past few months.

Next home assignment: Spring 2019
Although I just returned from home assignment, I am already planning the next one. I am switching to an annual 6-week home assignment each spring, beginning in 2019. I will be based in the Mid-Atlantic District for most of that tour, with a few churches also scheduled on the Virginia District. Check out my schedule by clicking here.

Important Announcement about Online Donations: The Church of the Nazarene’s Global Treasury Services have updated their servers, meaning that I have been given a new address for online donations. (This is different from what is printed on my prayer cards and in former newsletters!) The new link is https://give.nazarene.org/fund/jphillips. I have been informed that the old link will cease forwarding at the end of this year.

Thank you for your continued support and prayers!
Jonathan
