Not for Sale

It's funny. I get lots of comments and jokes made about my little Ford Festiva. Interestingly, I also have strangers walk up to me who are interested in buying my car from me.

A few weeks ago, a friend of mine told me to let me know if I was going to sell my car. He said he'd buy it and keep it as a spare; in case his car ever broke down, he'd pull mine out of his trunk and drive it home.

One time I got a note left on my windshield asking if I'd sell my car. Other times I've been stopped after parking my car by people wanting to buy my car. Another time, the mechanic changing my oil asked if I'd sell my car. Just today, when I was stopped at a red light, a motorcyclist asked if I want to sell my car.

I'm sticking with my answer - Nope. I'm not selling my car anytime soon.

So, why do I like my car so much? Sure, it gets a little hot without air conditioning in Kansas City summers, and it doesn't have other luxuries like cruise control or a CD player. It does, however, regularly get about 38 mpg in town. It's also amazingly spacious inside. (I know it doesn't look it from the outside, but it was designed so well that the inside is actually bigger than the outside!)

I want to keep my car because it was a gift to me. It is a gift God provided when I needed a car. A generous woman in my home church sold it at a very reasonable price to my family while I was in Romania. She knew I would need a car in Kansas City, and wanted to help. This little car has been a big blessing for the past 4 years, and I believe it will continue to be. I am not quick to throw away God's blessings.

When the day comes that I do choose to sell it (like when I go back to Romania), I'm sure they'll be plenty of offers!

How much would you take for it? :)
