The Road to Romania - May Update

In less than four months, I will have arrived in Romania and will be settling into life there. Let me give you an update of how my preparations are going.

In the past few weeks, I have had the opportunity to share with three churches and one small group. As I share, I try to take the emphasis off of the missionary, off of the cross-cultural component of mission, and refocus it on what God is already doing in the world and how He has called all of us to join His mission. While I do share about what I will be doing in Romania, I also emphasize the ways for churches to answer the call to join God's mission by participating in God's mission globally and in their local context.

Of course, one of the reasons I am speaking in churches is to raise financial support, since I will be serving in an unpaid position. My goal is to raise at least $25,000 before I leave (which will support me for my first 2 years). To date, $6,499.46 has been given, and $225 per month has been pledged. If you would like to to give to help support me in Romania, please visit my donation page.

Before I leave for Romania on August 31, I have a lot of work to do. Here's what I'll be doing for the next 4 months:
  • Working in Sunday School & Discipleship Ministries until the beginning of August
  • Church of the Nazarene's General Conventions & Assembly (June 23-July 3)
  • Visiting family & friends in Pennsylvania in August
  • Deputation tour of the Mid-Atlantic district in August
