Built around the year 1500, the church was originally Roman Catholic. At the time of the Protestant Reformation, the German Saxons who built the church converted to Lutheranism.
What makes this church special is that it is a fortified church, meaning that it was a place of protection in times when the village was under attack by invading forces. The people of the village would gather inside, and defend themselves. The church has 3 outer walls of protection that invaders would have to get past in order to get to the church building itself.
The sun was shining and the sky was blue, making it a perfect day to explore the church grounds and other parts of the village while learning about the history of this area of Transylvania.
