Myrtle M. Hartman

HELLAM - Myrtle M. (Rupp) Hartman, 92, died on Saturday, March 27, 2010, at 5 p.m. at Pleasant Acres Nursing & Rehab Center. She was the wife of the late Elmer E. Hartman.

There will be no viewing. Following cremation with Workinger-Semmel F.H. & Crematorium, Inc., 849 E. Market St., York, there will be a visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. The service will follow at 11 a.m. with her grandson, the Rev. Jonathan E. Phillips, officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Rose Cemetery.

Mrs. Hartman was born October 25, 1917, in York, and was the daughter of the late John H. and Jane E. (Stewart) Rupp. She was a retired sales clerk from Gettys Pet Shop and had previously worked at Tioga Silk Mill (Quillex). She was a member of Kreutz Creek Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Hartman is survived by two daughters, Sandra J. Sprenkle and husband, Donald of York, and Lynda S. Phillips and husband, Jeffrey of Hellam (formerly of Yoe); four grandsons, Dean B. Sprenkle, Douglas A. Sprenkle, Jonathan E. Phillips and Joseph M. Phillips; a great-grandson, Justin A. Sprenkle; and a sister, Loretta N. Lauer. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy D. Peiffer and Betty J. Waltersdorf; and a brother, David O. Rupp.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the York Rescue Mission, P.O. Box 1968, York, PA 17405-1968; or to a charity of your choice.
