Romaine Elizabeth (Hershner) Phillips, 82, died Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at York Hospital, surrounded by her family. She was born August 29, 1929, in Windsor, PA, to the late Luther and Rosetta (Strickler) Hershner. In 1945 she married Rudolph “Rudy” Phillips, and the couple celebrated 50 years of marriage before his passing in 1996. She had sold cosmetics for the Bon-Ton in York and had been the church organist for Pleasant View Brethren in Christ Church in Red Lion for many years. Mrs. Phillips is survived by two sons, Randolph “Randy” Phillips of Manchester, and Jeffrey Phillips and wife Lynda of Hellam; three grandsons, Richard Phillips, Jonathan Phillips, and Joseph Phillips; and great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Monday at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens with the Reverend Dr. Kenneth R. Gibson officiating. The funeral procession will form at the main entrance of the cemetery beginning at 10:45 a.m. The Workinger-Semmel F.H. & Crematorium, Inc., York, is in charge of the arrangements.
