Quick Update

The past week has been packed full of notable events. So here's a quick update with the highlights.

The first books of "The Power of One" in the hands of
pastors and missionaries in Romania
Last Thursday, the "Power of One" books were delivered. (That's the translation project that I've been coordinating for the past several months.) We were able to distribute them to the pastors at district assembly over the weekend.

Friday afternoon the district assembly began, in Bucharest. I always enjoy hearing the pastors' and ministry reports of what has happened during the past year. The evening concluded with a message from General Superintendent Dr. Jerry Porter.

On Saturday, the district assembly continued in the form of a training day. I led a seminar on discipleship. It was followed by a time of directed prayer and a meal together.

On Sunday morning, I attended the Bucharest Blessing Church. I was asked to lead the congregation during its celebration of the Lord's Supper, which was a great honor.

On Sunday afternoon, I visited the Open Door shelter for victims of human trafficking, which is directed by the wife of the pastor of the Bucharest Blessing Church of the Nazarene. (You can read more about how this ministry got started here.)

On Monday morning I left for the US. After a short flight to Istanbul (complete with a full meal) and a brief layover, I began the 11-hour flight to Washington DC. Four movies and 3 documentaries later, we arrived. (By the way, there's a reason Turkish Airlines was chosen Europe's best airline 3 years in a row. Great service. Great prices. 2 checked bags on trans-Atlantic flights included in the price.) After landing, it was a 2 1/2 hour car ride home. Let's just say that I was VERY tired when I finally got home, having been awake for nearly 24 hours!

The last few days I've been enjoying time with my family in Pennsylvania, like eating my mom's cooking and discovering with my brother our great-grandfather's "78" records from the 1920s- 1940s. (Some with really interesting titles - like Pistol Packin' Mama and She's Old and Bent But She Just Keeps Hoofin' Along!).

It's going to be a good month in the US. I'm looking forward to speaking at churches each Sunday, as well as catching up with friends in the area. You can expect another update from me around the beginning of December.
