What this means:
I will continue to serve in Romania in the same ministry roles that I have been fulfilling for the past 5 ½ years, and I will continue to raise my own financial support. However, now I will be able to use a portion of those funds for a salary to cover personal expenses and I will have access to benefits.
Why the Change?
In order to cover these new expenses, I must raise additional funds. The good news is that the Global Mission Department is now partnering with me to cover the cost of insurance from the World Evangelism Fund. However, even with that help, I still need to raise $595/month more than what I am currently receiving monthly. If you would like contribute by making a monthly or one-time donation, please click here.
Checks can be made payable to “General Treasurer, Church of the Nazarene” with “Jonathan Phillips- Deputation” on the memo line. Send checks to: Church of the Nazarene Global Treasury Services, PO Box 843116, Kansas City, MO 64184-3116.
All donations are tax-deductible and qualify as approved missions giving in the Church of the Nazarene.
Thank you for your faithful prayer support and financial generosity as I continue ministering in Romania.

Why the Change?
Mission Corps is designed to be a short-term program for volunteers serving in Nazarene missions. Since volunteers are (by definition) not employees, they do not qualify for employee benefits, and IRS regulations restrict how funds are used. As a volunteer, I could only use Mission Corps funds for food, housing & utilities, transportation, visa renewal, emergency health insurance, and ministry-related expenses. That, of course, leaves out any personal expenses (like clothing, shoes, toiletries, health products, and routine medical or dental visits). As a specialized assignment missionary, I will receive a salary so I can cover personal expenses and I will have access to benefits including health care and retirement.
