October Update

Greetings from Sighisoara!

The past 3 months since my last update have been incredibly full with everything from teaching for European Nazarene College to overseeing the last stages of proofreading the Romanian translation of the Nazarene Manual. I finally have a chance to send an update with a few highlights of the past few months.

Thank you for your continued prayers for me and for the work of the Church of the Nazarene in Romania.

Teaching for EuNC

Over the past few months, I have taught the course “God’s Mission and the Church” at the learning centers for European Nazarene College in Bulgaria, Russia, and Albania-Kosovo. Click here to read more about my experiences teaching for EuNC. You can also view pictures I took in Russia by clicking here and a few pictures from class in Albania & Kosovo here.

Please pray for EuNC students as they complete their assignments and as they minister in their local contexts.

Wood shop in Tigmandru opens

The Church of the Nazarene in the village of Tigmandru has been trying to find ways to help people in practical ways, including training for job skills and providing employment. The latest initiative, a wood shop, opened in August. Click here to read more about how this ministry got started (and to see pictures of objects they've already made).

Please pray that the wood shop and other projects in Tigmandru will provide much-needed jobs in the community.

“Don’t let the world squeeze you into its fungus” and other poor translations

Since I’ve become literature coordinator for Romania, I’ve become more aware of the importance of accurate translation to communicate the intended message. Click here to read an article I wrote for Engage Magazine about the translation process.

Please pray for the ministry of literature development in Romania, that we may impact not only Nazarenes but also the wider Christian community with resources.

Upcoming Events

I ask for your prayers for the upcoming Eurasia Regional Conference, in which participants from all over the region will gather together.

Please also pray for the Romania District Assembly in mid-November. I hope to have the translations of both the Nazarene
Manual and Nazarene Essentials completed and printed so they can be distributed at the assembly.

Fundraising Update

A big "THANK YOU" to the 7 individuals/families and 2 churches which are supporting me monthly, and to the 6 additional individuals/families who have contributed one-time donations since the beginning of March.

However, I still need to raise $4,000 this year to cover all of my expenses. If you would like to partner with me as a monthly or one-time donor, please click here for more information. (All donations are tax-deductible.)

Home Assignment 2016

I am in the process of scheduling deputation services for next fall (Sept-Nov 2016). So far, I plan to be on the Mid-Atlantic, North Carolina, and Kansas City districts, but I still have a lot of room in my schedule. Send me an email if you'd like me to share with your church or district.
