- For safe travels – to and from the US, as well as multiple flights and lots of driving within the US.
- That the message I share will inspire others to celebrate what God is doing in Romania and to engage in God’s mission in their local contexts.
- For quality time with family and friends.
- For good health. I was sick with a bad cold at the beginning of February and haven't fully regained all my strength yet.
- That I will raise the funds required for continued ministry in Romania.
While in the US, I will be speaking in churches on the Mid-Atlantic, Kansas City, and Florida Districts of the Church of the Nazarene. (Click here to view my complete schedule.) If you're in any of those areas, I hope I get to see you! I still have 2 Sunday evenings available. Please contact me if you’d like me to share with your church or small group on either of these dates:
- March 8 on the Mid-Atlantic or Philadelphia Districts
- March 15 on the Kansas City District.
Highlights from January & February:
EuNC Faculty Assembly: In January, I traveled to Budapest, Hungary, for European Nazarene College’s annual faculty assembly – the one time during the year that the faculty gather from the college’s 17 learning centers across Europe, the Middle East and Central Asia for training, worship, and fellowship together. This year, we celebrate 60 years since the college offered its first courses (in January 1966). Although the Romania Learning Center is currently inactive, we are beginning to develop plans to relaunch it at some point in the (hopefully not-too-distant) future. Please join us in praying for God to lead future Romanian students to EuNC to be equipped for ministry.
Bucharest Church: In January, I met with the congregation of the Bucharest Blessing Church of the Nazarene. Please join us in praying for missionaries to come to Bucharest to help revitalize the congregation, mainly in the areas of worship, discipleship, community outreach, and preaching. For more information about this opportunity, click here.
Open Door Foundation: In February, I again traveled to Bucharest, this time for strategic planning meetings with Nazarene Compassionate Ministries, the Central Europe Field, the Romania District, and the Open Door Foundation. Open Door works with survivors of human trafficking by providing emergency shelter and holistic care to help them recover and heal from being trafficked, gain autonomy, and reintegrate into society. Open Door maintains a close connection to the Bucharest Blessing Church of the Nazarene and NCM. Click here for more information about how to support Open Door.
February 7th marked 25 years since I first came to Romania! As a college student, I came to Romania for 6 months with Eastern Nazarene College’s study-abroad program. Over these past few weeks, I’ve been reflecting on that life-changing experience – reading through my journal and newsletters, viewing pictures and videos, and sharing memories with Romanian friends I’ve known since 2001. In fact, the message that I’ll be sharing with churches in the US during my home assignment will focus on what God has been doing in these 25 years since I first arrived in Romania.
Thank you for supporting me in prayer during my home assignment! I look forward to connecting with you in the coming weeks!
Jonathan
