10 Reasons to Participate in Missions

Joining God's Mission is not just for those who leave their home and travel overseas. All of God's people are called to participate in His mission in their own context. Here are "10 Reasons Why I Should Participate in Missions," reprinted from Nazarene Missions International's Mission Connection Magazine:
  1. I am a world Christian. I care about what happens in my home and neighborhood, as well as the world. I want to know how the Church of the Nazarene responds and how I can respond personally.
  2. Caring for others is scriptural. Throughout the Bible, God reminds me that He cares for all peoples.
  3. There is something for everyone! All age groups are involved—from children to senior adults.
  4. I have an influence. I want my life to model commitment to Christ and the church.
  5. I am part of a larger community—not only my local church, but the international Church. Praying for, giving for, learning about, and discipling others regarding missions strengthens those bonds.
  6. The whole world needs to know of God’s love, Jesus’ sacrifice, and the Holy Spirt’s comfort. The least I can do is spend a few hours to learn how to help.
  7. My focus should be outward, rather than inward. As I care about and pray for those God loves, my capacity for loving them grows.
  8. God wants me to give generously. Helping others accomplish God’s call on their lives allows me to be a part of their stories.
  9. The children and youth of my church should be involved in the mission of God, and I have a responsibility to help them become Great Commission Christians.
  10. I love God, His Church, and those who have not made a commitment to Christ, and I want to make a difference in my world!
