Last Friday I spent the day in Bucharest. I spent the morning exploring the city, especially those areas I will need to navigate easily in the future. I spent considerable time at the Christian bookstore, looking at resources in Romanian which will be helpful in the development of discipleship ministries on the Romania District.
In the evening, I joined the youth group at the Bucharest Blessings Church of the Nazarene. The twelve teenagers had a time of worship together, games, and a lesson led by Monica Boseff. It is encouraging to see what God is doing in the lives of young people in Romania.
For the majority of the afternoon, I met with Nazarene missionaries Michael & Tamara Hudson. The Hudsons, who also recently returned to Romania, will be overseeing theological education and literature development on the Romania District. I will be developing lay training and discipleship ministries for the district. Rather than approaching these as separate jobs, we are working together as a team, trying to find a place of ministry for every Romanian in the churches on the district – whether they are called to pastoral ministry or to minister as a layperson. We also feel strongly that everyone needs to be growing spiritually by participating in a discipleship ministry and/or Bible study.
With this vision cast, we spent time strategizing how to meet our goals. It’s not very often that I’m excited after a long meeting, but this meeting was very encouraging and we accomplished a lot. I’m thrilled at the ministry potential and the hunger for Christian education in the churches in Romania.
Please continue to pray for us as we serve the people in Romania by making Christlike disciples and training them for ministry.
